In the
middle of a clear sky there is a view of nearly sky touching building. That’s
really a fascinating scene one wants to see every day. Quite easy for the
people of Dubai as after Burj Khalifa, Infinity tower is taking the prestige of
being tallest skyscraper. The design itself is something from which one can’t
take its eyes off. It is slightly twisted from the middle and stand straight in
right angle i.e. 90*. It is designed by Skidmore Owings & Merrill, who
already have the concept design of Burj Khalifa and Trump Tower in their kitty
and developed by Cayan Real Estate Investment and Development which explains
its other name i.e. Cayan Tower. The height of the skyscraper is 330 meters and
consists of 75 stories. Infinity Tower exactly located in Dubai Marina. It’s
been only two years (completed in 2013) and infinity tower has already listed
in world’s tallest skyscraper in 2014.
As
mentioned above the other name of infinity is Canyon Tower, that’s because
there is already a tower with same name in South Korea that’s why they changed
the name into Canyon Tower. There are 495 apartments and a high speed lift
which moves at the rate of eight meters per second. The tower has six
underground basements. Achieving the right angle was not easy. They made to
rotate each floor by 1.2 degrees which lead to 90* spiral which created helix
shape of tower. There is huge amount of steel reinforcement has been used after
a deep excavation. It is 25,000 tons of steel with the digging of 27 meters. It
took seven years to make Canyon/Infinity tower. This delay happened because
diaphragm has collapsed and time has consumed to place it in right manner. But
as we can see it was worth waiting.
